Fergie shows off her perfect legs in colourful mini-dress

She certainly has a unique sense of style.

And on Friday, Black Eyed Peas singer Stacy ‘Fergie’ Ferguson was spotted out in Beverly Hills in a vest mini-dress that graduated in colour from black around the neckline through blue and green before ending up yellow at the thigh-high hemline.

Intriguingly, the cute frock, which showed off the 39-year-old’s shapely legs, had the number 23 on the front – but no indication what that might stand for.

Famous athletes who have worn the number include basketball superstar Michael Jordan and Adrian Gonzalez from the LA Dodgers, Fergie’s favourite baseball team.

The Fergalicious star teamed the dress with black high-heeled booties that wrapped around the back of her foot, fastened at the ankle with a metal bar and had a single strap across her toes.

Her long blonde hair streamed around her face and down past her shoulders.

She accessorised with a heavy bangle with large letters on the side, a pair of round sunglasses and a small black clutch decorated with a red design.

Fergie is getting ready to debut her first solo single in 16 months, LA Love (La La), on Monday.

It’s her follow-up to A Little Party Never Killed Nobody from 2013 movie soundtrack, The Great Gatsby, and was produced by DJ Mustard, aka Dijon McFarlane.

Meanwhile, there are multiple reports that Fergie, who shares one-year-old son Axl with husband Josh Duhamel, is working on a new album, her first in eight years.

Her last solo album, The Dutchess, was released in 2006 and produced hit singles London Bridge, Fergalicious, Glamorous, Big Girls Don’t Cry and Clumsy.

The star took to Twitter on September 18 to deny the reports, which included one from music industry Bible Billboard, saying: ‘I guess this article has got some rumors going about me & new music. As @PublicEnemyFTP says, don’t believe the hype.’

But just a little while later she tweeted: ‘But then again… sometimes #wheretheressmoketheresfire. lol’

Fans will have to wait until next year to find out.

Texas couple’s wedding day saved by strangers from Craigslist

One Texas couple never imagined they’d find the answer to their wedding day prayers on Craigslist.

Less than two weeks before his wedding, Raul Martinez, 26, was laid off from his job as a boilermaker in the chemical plant industry.

“I knew I was going to be laid off, but not that soon,” Martinez told ABC News.

After paying bills, the couple only had a little bit of money left for last minute wedding expenses earlier this month.

“We used our last $10 on something we had been needing for the wedding that we were missing,” Martinez’ wife, Savannah Martinez, told ABC News .

Even after making and selling tamales and trying to find things to pawn, they still needed money for the groom’s shoes and the bride’s hair and nails, so they listed their bedroom furniture set and television on Craigslist for sale. They were able to sell their television, but couldn’t find a buyer for their bedroom set.

“I showed it to my husband and said, ‘Honey, take a look at this ad. I think this guy needs some help. He keeps dropping the price. He’s desperate,’” Wehrman told ABC News.

On Sept. 12, the day before their wedding, Raul Martinez still wasn’t sure how he was going to get the money they needed.

“That Friday [my wife] was crying because her aunt and everybody was doing their nails, and I didn’t have the money to pay for it,” Raul Martinez said. “I told her I would come up with the money, but I didn’t know how I was going to come up with the money because no one was buying the furniture.”

Wehrman said her husband wasn’t interested in the furniture but told his wife that they could just give him the money. So the night before the Martinez’ Sept. 13 wedding, Wehrman sent Raul Martinez a text message.

“I said, ‘It’s not really the furniture that we’re looking for, but I was wondering what you need the money for,’” Wehrman said. “I didn’t know then that he had just lost his job.”

When she found out that Martinez needed the money for his wedding, Wehrman offered to give him money as a wedding gift if he came to her house.

Raul Martinez said he didn’t respond to Wehrman’s message until the next day because they were busy setting up the reception hall for their wedding.

“I said, ‘If you still want the gift, you have to come to my house,’” Wehrman said.

“I told my wife, ‘Let’s go!’ She said, ‘What if they jack us?’ I said, ‘They know we don’t have money,’” laughed Raul Martinez.

Savannah Martinez said she was scared when she saw the messages, but went along with her husband to wait for Wehrman near her home the morning of their wedding day.

When Wehrman finally arrived, she gave the couple $200.

“I took the money. I said, ‘Thank you, we appreciate it,’” Raul Martinez said. “My wife started crying, and she said, ‘Thank you.’”

With Wehrman’s gift, Raul Martinez was able to pay for his shoes and for his wife to get her hair done. Wehrman declined an invitation to their wedding that evening.

“Our goal was just to help out,” Wehrman said. “There’s a lot of people that’s blessed that can help others.”

Martinez said he’s currently working little side jobs, and the couple is no longer selling their bedroom set.

“God bless the people that helped us. This comes to show there are good people out there whenever somebody is in need,” Raul Martinez said.

“It’s good to know there are good people out there to help.”

Nearly-Cooked Models Start Paris Fashion Week

Ninety-three shows, nine days, one fashion-crazed city.

The world’s travelling circus of fashion editors, buyers and celebrities waved goodbye to the cobbled streets of Milan and cried “Bonjour Paris” on Tuesday, bracing itself for the last, most colorful furlong of spring-summer 2015 ready-to-wear shows.

Tuesday’s a day for the up-and-coming fashion designers and stars of tomorrow. And it can pack some surprises.

Anthony Vaccarello, who has dressed Gwyneth Paltrow, gave himself an ego boost by plastering his name in huge letters all over his clothes, while newcomer house Anrealage tried to cook its models for the sake of art.

As they say, “fashion has no mercy.”

Here are show reports and highlights from day one.

MODELS COOKED IN THE NAME OF FASHION

Japanese house Anrealage produced a highly original debut show in Paris.

The pressure is on for any newbie on the calendar to make a mark. House designer Kunihiko Morinaga took this literally — and cooked imprints into his designs, live during the show.

Several models in plain black and white trapeze-silhouettes, and stencil-like cotton and lace outer-garments, walked into a “grill” area, where they stopped to be heated up by intense beam lighting.

When they walked off stiffly, in plate-bottom stilettos, the audience applauded on seeing rippled “grill” patterns that had been imprinted on the parts of the techno-fabric exposed.

It resembled a sort of microwaved Jacquard.

The models wore stiff, plastic bob-like wigs — and certainly looked like they needed a cold shower following this grueling spring-summer show.

FROM TOKYO TO PARIS

Already famous in native Japan, award-winning Morinaga is known for his daring concepts that merge art and fashion — such as a 2009 creation: a square box that becomes a trench coat when the box ribbing is taken out.

Making the leap from Tokyo to Paris is a big step for a Japanese designer as it opens up the house to the international gaze.

“Tokyo is already an international city with our own big fashion scene. New York is too domestic, too American. But Paris is the international fashion window to the world for us,” said Hirofumi Kurino, senior adviser at Japanese clothes store United Arrows, who attended the Anrealage show.

“There are the highest level critics and buyers here, and like (Japanese brand) Sacai that shows here, Paris means more customers and is seen as the next level for a Japanese designer,” he added.

ANTHONY VACCARELLO BLOWS HIS NAME UP

Anthony Vaccarello is one of the biggest names on the first day of collections.

And he’s not afraid to show it.

The French designer was in a typically sexy mood for this print-rich show that featured his own name blown up on many of the looks.

He began his musings with the sartorial pin stripe and business jacket silhouettes — which were given a feminine lift with provocative, diagonal uber-miniskirts.

And the mood for graphic prints continued in the form of huge blown-up writing, which spelled out letters from the designer’s name and “spring” in black and white.

There was a certain feel for the Swinging Sixties, or the designs of Courreges, in the show’s later slashed, figure-hugging monochrome minidresses that had a nice disco-sheen.

Too many different styles meant, at times, there was a sense of overkill. But Vaccarello should be applauded for an enviable new scooped, U-shaped neckline that looks sensual without being trashy.

82 year-old Ragland woman serves those in need on wedding day

An 82 year-old East Alabama woman has dedicated her life to helping others. Many call Eleanor Clinkscales a superstar senior citizen for her commitment to serving the community. But, on Saturday she wore a very different and yet special title, on Saturday she was a bride.

Eleanor Clinkscales of Ragland, AL spends her days helping those in need. Not even her wedding day would be an exception. She asked her guests to donate canned goods in lieu of gifts.

“I’m more concerned that we do a really good job stocking this pantry for the winter,” explained Clinkscales when asked if she was nervous about her big day.

For the last three decades, Clinkscales has made sure low-income families in St. Clair County have food to eat and clothes on their backs. She pays extra attention to children in need so every summer she

collects schools supplies and back packs for them and collects jackets in the winter. Clinkscales makes it her priority to make sure all donations go to those who need it most. Her giving spirit is just one of the many reasons why the community adores her.

It’s also the reason Charles Davis asked Clinkscales for her hand in marriage.

“Her kindness! She’s got a real deep feeling for people in need,” explained Davis. He is the 76 year-old groom.

Longtime acquaintances, Davis and Clinkscales reconnected last summer after 20 years. Clinkscales was a widow and Davis a widower.

“When you lose somebody, it was rough on me, and she helped me get through it,” added Davis.

That reunion was the start of a lifelong commitment to each other. Months later Davis got down on one knee and popped the question. How could Eleanor say no?

“I’m mean really! Awe, he’s a doll honey!” added Clinkscales. She never thought she would find love again.

“I’m very lucky to have him,” she added.

On Saturday Clinkscales and Davis tied the knot inside of the Refuge Baptist Church in Ragland. Family and friends were there to help them celebrate and to see Clinkscales have a well-deserved special day.

“Very fun loving woman to be around! She’s always got a smile on her face and always there. Just lifting you and brightening your day up is what she does,” described Pastor Jason Tolbert who married the two.

Clinkscales says she has no plans on slowing down. After their honeymoon, the newlyweds will start a collection drive for winter jackets. All donations will go to the Head Start program that benefits children in need in St. Clair County. Clinkscales says their goal is to collect 220 jackets. They need boys and girls jackets in sizes four, five and six.

Dress to impress

If the zero make-up look, boring clothes, an enormous bag and a pair of dowdy shoes define your work wear style, it is time to up the ante just a notch so that you are perceived as a power player. Sharp dressing is no longer the prerogative of employees positioned as the face of the company or for those who meet clients. No matter where you work or what you do, you need to have a wardrobe that projects your unique story and your inimitable personality.

An entire wardrobe overhaul may not be necessary for most women – all you need to do is add creative touches to your existing sartorial staples so that your work wear always looks edgy and on trend.

The first item that could be updated is the handbag. Matching your handbag to your clothes is not the way to make a statement at work. You have to take your cue from your office environment. If it is a formal work place, structured handbags in high quality leather or fine fabrics are your best options, but watch out for the size. Anything too large or slouchy will look unprofessional, whereas a structured handbag will keep your things in place and look smart too.

If you work in a creative environment, a colourful handbag is a good choice but make sure it contrasts with your clothes and picks up only on the accent colours of your outfit.

As for clothes, sharp tailoring always speaks of good taste and style. But if you cannot locate an exclusive boutique or good tailor in your vicinity, the next best option is to buy clothes that fit you well or can be customised for you. Business chic is the style mantra of the day, so let your creativity flow every morning.

Create a fashion statement with a blouse with bold motifs and unusual patterns, a lovely stole, a large neck piece or just add a chic blazer. The more creative your field, the more you can play around with motifs, colours and textures. But if you work in a formal office set-up, spice up sober shades like black and white or quiet blues and cool greys with unique earrings or bright handbags.

Shoes are usually next on an update list but buy them only in accordance with the profession you are in. If you are on the road or on your feet the whole day, it is best not to opt for killer heels. Fortunately, the stores are full of beautiful flat shoes and sandals that can brighten up the most boring outfits. Unless you have a medical problem, stay away from unattractive shoes at work, because an onlooker’s eye is unconsciously drawn to footwear and well shod feet can instantly add polish and finesse to your ensemble.

As for your make-up, keep it subtle but not necessarily minimal. Hydration and sun protection are crucial so never begin your make-up routine without using moisturiser, a day lotion and sunscreen. Play up the eyes with mascara and eye liner but keep your lipstick toned down. Make sure your skin looks flawless. To achieve this, you might need generous amounts of concealer and radiance boosters. Use foundation sparingly and only on your problem areas, because nothing is quite as attractive as your own skin.

Also, do not neglect your hands which are always on display. I would recommend a perfecting hand cream that camouflages all imperfections in a jiffy. It is a good idea to keep this product in your purse along with some nail varnish to tackle sudden nail mishaps.

Dressing to impress at work may not escalate your career growth magically but it can make the journey pleasant.

And it will help you tackle most problems with confidence and elan.
